The Truly Authentic Taste of Arabia & the Middle East - "Falafel and Humus"

While many have claimed to serve authentic food, especially from the Arab World and Middle Eastern countries, very few seem to live up to their traditional and authentic versions. What we get most of the time is a localized version that includes ingredients that are not supposed to be there in the first place. This may seem like a cheap business strategy but for those who have been brought up on these cuisines, this is a matter of pride and honor.

I was passing by the street from Guitar Chowraha to Saket Square when I happened to notice this small outlet selling Falafel and Humus. Having been subjected to numerous badly reproduced versions before, I was wary of what I would get to taste here.

I approached them where I was greeted warmly by this gentleman who was really fast with the service. Although i have had the real thing before and have tried countless attempts at a Falafel (which turned out to be unworthy of being called a Falafel), I was simply blown off by the taste.

The Falafel actually tasted like a Falafel and the ingredients were exactly as it is served in the Middle East. It was a carnival of flavors in my mouth and I could not resist myself from trying the Humus. This time is was completely blown over with the was the Humus was presented.

Absolutely delicious and I was relieved that no modification had been done in it whatsoever to customize it as per the local palate. It is just beyond description, the pleasure that you get when you dig into an authentic culinary delight.

Presenting to you, the "Authentic" Falafel outlet managed by the Father and Son duo who make the experience all the more memorable with their warm welcome and their "service with a smile".

The Father-Son duo working together to serve eagerly waiting Customers.

Falafel being made the way it should be!!!
The place currently offers only Falafel (medium spiced and very spicy variants) and a combo platter comprising of salad, pita bread (yes, they have the original pita bread !!!), pickle, Felafel and Humus topped with chilli and a generous dressing of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Priced at Rs. 35 for the Falafel and Rs 50 for the combo platter, this is great value for money and is really affordable. What more could you ask for !!! And its really filling and light.

The main motive behind the establishment of this outlet was to provide authentic Arabic cuisine to the people who have been bluffed by the various commercial establishments selling "Middle Eastern" food that have no resemblance whatsoever with the real thing.

This outlet is just an experiment and has been operational since 4 months. During this short stint, the outlet has witnessed a great response from the crowd with many customers expressing satisfaction with the product as having the same taste as what is offered in Dubai and other Arabic cities. Customers can expect a proper restaurant ambiance in the near future (maybe some weeks) where the range of offerings would be a lot more.

For all health conscious people who are rethinking about having fried Falafels, well they can rest assured that Falafel is a really healthy option with low fat, high dietary fiber content and rich source of proteins.

This place is highly recommended for those who wish to indulge in the authentic taste of the Middle East and experience Arabic flavors like never before. Hats off to these people for striving hard to share the cultural values of traditional cuisines.

Location: Just head off towards Saket Square from A.B. Road (Guitar Square / Chowraha) along the Greater Kailash Road and you will find this outlet just outside the church.

Best Time to Go: It is best to go in the evenings but try to reach there early as the servings are currently limited and you would not want to miss out on the chance to dig into a tasty Falafel.
